Waste Management
In the Municipality of Shelburne waste is collected on a bi-weekly collection schedule. On your regularly scheduled garbage day you can place blue bags/recyclables, clear bags/regular waste and your green cart/compost at curbside by 7 am for collection. Cardboard can be bundled for collection. All waste is collected in accordance with the Municipality's Solid Waste Management By-Law S-200 which, provides for the proper separation, storage, placement for pick-up, collection and disposal of all types of solid waste resources in the Municipality of the District of Shelburne.

- Spring Metal Collection - April 13 - 23, 2021
- Fall Metal Collection - October 12 - 22, 2021
Items Permitted for Metal Collections:
- Scrap metal
- small metal appliance
- barbeques
- freezers
- emptied oil barrels
- baseboard heaters
- refrigerators
- air conditioners
- lawn mowers
- bicycles
- and any other type of metal.
Items Not Permitted during Metal Collections:
- household waste
- recyclable material
- bulkly waste items
- tires
- paint
- petroleum products
- hazardous waste
- car parts
- construction & demolition debris
- wood & wooden furniture
Items must not weigh more than 70 kgs or be longer than 3 meters. All special collection items will be collected on the same day as regular waste and must be put out for pick-up not later than 7:00 a.m. on Collection Day
