PRESS RELEASE Election of Warden and Deputy Warden

At its November 9, 2022 Council meeting, the Municipality of the District of Shelburne held an election for Warden and Deputy Warden as the term of office for these positions has expired after its two (2) year time requirement.

Penny Smith, Councillor for District 2, was nominated and elected as Warden for the Municipality of Shelburne. No other nominations were made. Warden Smith has held the position of Warden for the past six (6) years, since 2016 when she became a member of Council.

There are a lot of great projects underway including the new administration building, community well, food security project as well as growing partnerships locally and across the Province. Dale Richardson, Councillor for District 7, was nominated and elected as Deputy Warden for the Municipality of Shelburne. No other nominations were made. Deputy Warden Richardson has held the position of Deputy Warden for the past two (2) years, since 2020 when he became a member of Council. The Deputy Warden shall act in the absence or unavailability of the Warden in various capacities.

The Warden, Deputy Warden and Councillors are all thanked for their dedication and commitment to the Municipality of Shelburne. Their leadership is vital to the progress and support of our area.
