Early in 2011, work was completed on the Eastern Shelburne County Energy Strategy, a joint project with the Town of Lockeport and the Town of Shelburne.  Eastern Shelburne County has the potential for both energy efficiency gains and the development of renewable energy from wind, solar, biomass and ocean sources.  The Energy Strategy examines these opportunities, provides and assessment on their viability, and provides the municipalities with an approach to taking action on these opportunities in the short, medium and long terms.

The energy strategy project also served to complete Milestones 1, 2 and 3 for the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Partners for Climate Protection Program.

Work is underway to secure funding and prepare a plan for implementation of the strategy in 2011/12.
